80 के दशक की खूबसूरत अभिनेत्रियों की बात हो और उनमें जरीना वहाब का नाम न आए ऐसा संभव नहीं है। जरीना हर साल 17 जुलाई को अपना जन्मदिन मनाती हैं। इस बार वह अपना 63वां बर्थडे सेलिब्रेट कर रही हैं। उनका जन्म 17 जुलाई साल 1959 को आंध्र प्रदेश के विशाखापट्टनम में हुआ था। बॉलीवुड की कई फिल्मों में नजर आ चुकीं जरीना को हिंदी और अंग्रेजी के अलावा उर्दू और तेलुगू भाषा पर अच्छी पकड़ हासिल है। साल 1986 में उन्होंने जाने-माने एक्टर आदित्य पंचोली से शादी कर ली थी। उनके दो बच्चे सना और सूरज पंचोली हैं। सूरज भी पिता और मां की तरह ही पेशे से एक्टर हैं। करियर की शुरुआत से पहले जरीना बाकायदा एक्टिंग की ट्रेनिंग ले चुकी हैं। पुणे स्थित फिल्म एंड टेलीविजन इंस्टीट्यूट से उन्होंने एक्टिंग का कोर्स किया है। प्रतिभा होने के बावजूद उन्हें फिल्मों में पहला मौका पाने के लिए काफी संघर्ष करना पड़ा। दरअसल, जिस समय जरीना वहाब बॉलीवुड में संघर्ष कर रही थीं उस समय अपने सावंले रंग की वजह से जरीना के हाथों से कई मौके निकलते जा रहे थे। जिसकी वजह से उनका संघर्ष दोगुना हो गया था। 
कड़े संघर्ष के बाद उनके हाथ ऋषिकेश मुखर्जी की ‘गुड्डी’ लगी थी, लेकिन बाद में इस फिल्म में जया बच्चन को कास्ट कर लिया गया। इसके बाद भी उन्होंने हार नहीं मानी और फिल्मों में रोल पाने का अपना संघर्ष जारी रखा। जल्द ही उनकी मेहनत रंग लाई और एक दिन उन्हें पता चला कि अभिनेता देव आनंद अपनी नई फिल्म ‘इश्क, इश्क, इश्क’ के लिए एक नए चेहरे की तलाश कर रहे हैं। इस मौके को जरीना वहाब हाथ से नहीं जाने देना चाहती थीं। बस फिर क्या था वह सीधे महबूब स्टूडियो पहुंचीं और ऑडीशन दिया। फिल्म में जरीना वहाब को जीनत अमान की बहन का रोल मिला गया। हालांकि उनकी यह फिल्म बॉक्स ऑफिस पर कुछ खास कमाल नहीं दिखा सकी, लेकिन जरीना वहाब के अभिनय को दर्शकों ने पसंद किया। जरीना को बॉलीवुड में असली पहचान फिल्म ‘चितचोर’ से मिली। राजश्री प्रोडक्शन की इस फिल्म में जरीना के काम की काफी सराहना हुई थी। इस फिल्म के अलावा वह ‘घरौंदा’, ‘अनपढ़’, ‘सावन को आने दो’, ‘नैया’, ‘सितारा’ और ‘तड़प’ जैसी कई शानदार फिल्मों में अपने अभिनय का लोहा मनवा चुकी हैं।
